The late Mother Katie Sanders, grandmother of Mother Norma L. Crosland, was a woman with a vision. That vision began to unfold in a small building on East Dargan Street in Dillon, SC. One of the first established ministries in the area to believe in and carry out the commission of the Apostles; she enforced the doctrine of the baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus and the Gift of the Holy Ghost, which was evident by speaking in tongues as the spirit gave utterance.
In the mid fifties Mother Sanders met Bishop R. F. Davis and with his help, established the Highway Church of Christ on East Dargan Street in Dillon, SC. Mother Sanders was called from labor to rest in 1966. Many preachers were instrumental in serving the Dillon congregation: Elder Wilbert Gilchrist, Elder Clifford McKellar, Elder Timothy Lemon and Elder Ricky Jones.
In 2002 Elder Benjamin C. Leach was assigned to conduct services in Dillon and the congregation began to grow and gain momentum. Since that time, the church has gone through two complete renovations and now stands as a beautiful edifice.
In 2004 Elder Leach was installed pastor of The Greater Highway Church of Christ in Dillon. We continue to strive to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might; putting on the whole armour of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil, this is our Mission.
